Thorp old boy playing for Scotland

A FORMER Thorp Academy student will represent his country over Easter.

Drew Davison, now in Year 13 after leaving Thorp 18 months ago, has been named in a 26-man Scotland squad to compete in the inaugural International Series in Wales.

Davison, who plays for Newcastle Falcons, will travel to Cardiff tomorrow ahead of an opening fixture against the Welsh on Saturday at 8.05pm in Pontypridd.

They will then face Italy in Llanelli on Wednesday before facing old foes England in Ystrad Mynach in their final game a week on Saturday.

Canada and Ireland are also involved in the competition and Davison has warmed up for the event by playing his part in a series of matches.

Scotland lost their first warm-up 31-17 against England and were edged out by a Scottish development Under-19s side too.

Head coach Ally Donaldson said: ?We have had a fairly intensive period of training leading up to the International Series and have picked a squad who are well prepared and will flourish in the intense environment we will face in Wales.?

* Everyone from Thorp Academy wishes Drew good luck.
